Friendly Responses to those with HIV/AIDS

This Action provides suggestions on how to be an ally to those living with HIV/AIDS.

  1. Use loving and helpful language:
    • Ask the question, "Have you been tested?" instead of "Are you clean?"
    • When referring to a chronic illness (like HIV/AIDS) use phrases like "living with" instead of "suffering from".
  2. Support organizations like Mr. Friendly whose mission is to end the stigma of HIV/AIDS. Make sure look them up on Facebook to find a "Team Friendly" network near you!
  3. Love yourself by Getting Tested and encourage others to do the same!
  4. If someone you care about is living with HIV/AIDS or any other chronic illness, encourage them to find local support groups.
  5. - 7. Share the following posts on your social media pages!
