Immigrants for Sale: Private Prisons

This video shows an auction of a private detention center that imprisons immigrants coming to the U.S. Watch to learn more about the prison industrial complex.

This video shows the auction of a private prison. At detention centers like this one, prisoners are detained for profit. In other words, the more people in the prison, the more money the private prisons make. Moreover, the private prison industry is powerful and has influenced recent immigration policy because a majority of people in private prisons are immigrants. Therefore, private prisons profit from strict immigration policies.  As you can hear in the video, the auctioneer boasts that the prison will have "an endless supply of product." Of course, he means people, immigrants and others who are detained so the prison can make money. To learn more about this issue, you can watch the full documentary here
